Tailor-made press for the aerospace industry

The need for power and precision
Our customer already owned a 50HRLP press from our range of rack and pinion presses. But over time, its needs changed. In an industrial context subject to severe mechanical constraints, it needed a more powerful and more precise solution, particularly for a very specific type of operation: fitting large plugs into technical parts. This particular task requires considerable force to prevent any leakage or deformation resulting from the pressure exerted on the parts during the operation.
However, the 50HRLP press in use has begun to show its limitations. Notably in terms of the power exerted and the risk of deformation of the frame. To guarantee consistent quality without compromising the structure of the parts, the customer needed a more powerful machine capable of meeting these new constraints.
Tailor-made solution from EMG Presses
To meet this specific need, EMG Presses designed a special, custom-made press capable of delivering 6 tonnes of power. This was achieved without deforming the frame, which is crucial to guaranteeing the tool's lifespan. Thanks to a high gear ratio, the new press requires only 35 kg of pressure on the flywheel to develop this power. This is a significant reduction compared with the 50HRLP press, which required more pressure to achieve similar performance.
Customised features for a modern industrial environment
In addition to the increase in power, the customer wanted specific adjustments to make the machine easier to use in their working environment. As a result, EMG Presses added a number of custom features to this special aerospace press:
- A height-adjustable platen to accommodate different part sizes and operators.
- A dedicated shelf for the computer keyboard and a support for the screen to optimise the workspace and ensure optimum ergonomics.
- A precision lamp, essential for operations requiring meticulous alignment and adjustment of components.
